Goodness me, oh my. So, some of you may remember the house we got screwed over in last may? Basically, the landlord broke into secluded, foreclosed homes and rented them out via Craigslist and then pocketed the cash. Well, Brandon Staigmiller has court tomorrow to testify against him and try to get a settlement over it, so I compiled all the information (correspondence, photographic evidence, receipts etc) and I am completely shocked at how screwed we really were! We spent almost 400 hours in a month cleaning and repairing the house, preparing the gardens, packing our old house etcetera. AND heres some figures for you math folk: over the 4 months that it ended up impacting our finances, we ended up losing: plants and gardening costs-$3,500, cleaning and house supplies-$200, rental costs for both places-$5,700, moving costs-$800, and miscellaneous expenses around $600.. Total almost 10,000 in lost plants, rent costs, utility costs, permits, gas expenses to drive to and from... The list goes on. Actually putting all this together blows my mind, at the impact that one event like that can really end up costing you. Hopefully we get at least a fraction of this back in the settlement because what he did was 100% unethical and absolutely catastrophic to us AND the 8 or so other families he screwed over. So, long winded schpeel over, moral of the story: be nice!
