Goodnight, first day. The break has been good. I have been present enough to worry and soothe, to cook, to take long walks talking to myself and noticing all the beauty around me. I got to see some family and friends. I celebrated. I touched up some paint, cleaned some drawers, gave my phone number to an attractive person in the grocery store. Today begins my 15th year in the bay area: San Francisco, Palo Alto, Emeryville, Oakland, Berkeley. Here I am. Theres so much Ive wanted to tell you, but it was a good time for quiet, a virtual snow settling all around, dampening all the sound while the sunlight still streams in. Happy new year. I love you.
