Gospel music great Andrae Crouch died yesterday at just 72 years - TopicsExpress

Gospel music great Andrae Crouch died yesterday at just 72 years of age. For many, his music was a major influence in the faith of their youth. He wrote some of the iconic Christian songs of his era, went on to be the go to guy for Gospel music in some of the great moderns films like The Color Purple and others. Crouch was one of a kind in his impact on Christian music. He was the first artist and writer whose music would sweep away barriers of color while never drawing attention to this accomplishment. He gave a lot of white kids a reason to have a little soul! In an era when Motown was popular in virtually every American home, Andrae had an equally receptive audience - among young Christians and beyond, as Rev. Billy Graham called him the hymn writer of our time. He and his sister Sandra would continue to serve God through co-pastoring the church founded by their parents. Our hymnals include at least two of his songs (My Tribute/To God Be the Glory and Soon and Very Soon) Here is Soon and Very Soon youtu.be/lmGiu9JfbIs
