Got Complaints? Listen to Paul Following the “bullet-points” - TopicsExpress

Got Complaints? Listen to Paul Following the “bullet-points” are statements similar to those heard among some in the church. Immediately following each bullet-point is a phrase from Paul, as quoted from 2 Corinthians 11:24-27. •“People mistreat me!” “Five times I received at the hands of the Jews the forty lashes less one.” •“I can’t do what I want to do.” “Three times I was beaten with rods.” •“No one listens to me.” •“Once I was stoned.” •“No one comes to see me.” “Three times I was shipwrecked.” •“My family doesn’t like this church!” “A night and a day I was adrift at sea.” •“No one talks to me.” “On frequent journeys.” •“I don’t like the preacher.” “In danger from rivers, danger from robbers, danger from my own people, danger from Gentiles, danger in the city, danger in the wilderness, danger at sea, danger from false brothers” •“I don’t have clothes that I think are good enough to wear to church.” “In toil and hardship.” •“The preacher did not speak to me last time I saw him.” “Through many a sleepless night.” •“God must not like me; I don’t have as much money as my friends.” “In hunger and thirst.” •“I feel so lonely.” “Often without food.” Now hear him again (Philippians 4:11b): “for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content.” By the way, did you notice how small our problems look when compared with Paul’s sufferings? —Lance Cordle
