Got Sharping Levers? They’re finally here… the harp guitar sharping levers for the sub-bass and super-trebles! If youve been following my posts here on Facebook, my newsletters and web site, you’ll know that it’s been a painfully slow process to successfully complete a quality production model 21 string harp guitar based on the Sullivan/Elliot 20 string harp guitar. We started the 21 string harp guitar project in March, 2012. Now, nearly 3 years later, we’re finally closing the chapter on this instrument. The sharping levers have been the final issue and it has been resolved. The problem has been finding a suitable lever that will work with both the sub-bass AND super-treble strings. The super-trebles are less than 25cm long. This shorter string length increased the pitch by a full tone, not the required semi-tone, when the lever is engaged. The “Universal Sharping Levers” are the solution. There’s also something extra-special about these new levers that you’ll appreciate. You’ll notice in photo 1 that they’re a combination of Black and Gold. The gold levers will be used on the “C” and “F” strings. This is the same set up as a regular harp (photo 2). This will make it easier to quickly identify the strings. This arrangement will be used on both the sub-basses and super trebles. The bass strings, from low to high are: E, F (gold), G, A, B, C (gold), D The super treble strings are, from low to high are: E, F (gold), G, A, B, C (gold), D, E When the levers are installed and the instruments strung up (few more days), I’ll post the photo sets and video review. The 21 string harp guitar with sharping levers is a wonderful step forward for the “production model harp guitar”!
