Got a birthday kill in Elite today. My game crashed last night when I tried to land at a Federal Distress Beacon. I log on about noon EST today and immediately saw a giant federal dreadnaught under attack by like 30-40 npcs and a few players (all fighting each other depending on what faction they were fighting for). I started running in silent mode to scan who was who to see if i could find a decent player to fight against. I was in an active tanked (Shield Boosted) Eagle [See Pic], with 3 Small Multi-Cannons (Mini-Guns) which were gimbaled (a turret that tracks a target in its firing arc) I found another eagle on scan which had 3 fixed turret pulse lasers. I started the fight first and he shook me off his six in about 10 seconds as I had to maneuver around another passing ship and dive under the dreadnaughts turrets. Eventually we both maneuvered face to face and immediately both tore our shields down before I could activate my shield booster. So both into armor, my multi-cannons hit harder and took him down to about 25% armor. I was about 60% armor. Thank god for that military grade composite armor... We still were maneuvering and getting shot at by other npcs every once in a while, but we managed to sort of leave the battlefield as he was running away. Realizing I had limited engine power as I had most of my ships energy into the weapon systems; I went max engine power and watched him warp off grid. Immediately, I retracted my hard-points and activated my super-cruise drive (as I noticed his wake was low energy, so he super-cruised instead of warped to another star) Once I entered super-cruise, his radar blip showed him at a distance of 15 light seconds. With my upgraded super-cruise drive, I was able to catch up to him rather quickly. Having an interdiction module, I pulled him out of super-cruise and we started the fight again. By this time I could tell this other player was in a panic and I quickly took his shields down and ripped thru his armor. He got some shots off on me, but I was using my shield boosters; this allowed me to keep shields to the max. Splash One Eagle At this time, a blip comes up notifying me of a 375 credit bounty for the murder of Cmdr. Backer #44307. I think Im hooked. Best gift a game could give me. Oh and thanks Seder for BL2. We will play soon. Optimized it this morning.
