Got home from the ER at 1:30am today. Yesterday Roxy got roughed up at the dog park by a over zealous husky. When I got home around 8pm I was very angry seeing my Roxy with bumps that looked like welts all over her back, face and legs. Her face was swollen and she had red patches under her eyes and nose plus her nose was also swollen. We tried to comfort her but her breathing was labored so knowing I would get no sleep worrying about her we decided to take her in to the U of I vet clinic around 10:30pm. The vet took her away to examine her while we waited. Long story short we came to the conclusion that the bumps and swelling came from more than likely spider bites from the dog park where several friends noticed a high volume of those critters in the grass. Dr. gave her a shot of Benadryl and then waited to see her reaction. When she came back to our room prancing we knew that shot had done the trick. She looked like a different dog. Bumps gone and swelling way down. Whew so relieved to have our Roxy back to almost normal. Those red patches will take time to heal.
