Got or getting divorced? Guess what? YOU failed. Even if on the surface it appears that you didnt, you should look at it as if you did. I notice when people want to discuss their ongoing or final divorce, they discuss what the spouse did wrong. They tell me how their spouse cheated; how they lied; how they werent a good parent; how they spent all of their money; or, whatever. Somehow, by explaining to their friend how bad the other spouse was, they take the failing spotlight off of themselves -- or so they think. So, lets say they did do all of those things. How does focusing on what they did wrong help you in ANY way? It doesnt. You cant change the past and you cant change them; BUT, you can decide to OWN what part of the marriage YOU failed at. Why? Because if you dont, then you are destined to take that same failing part with you when you meet that next Mister/Miss right -- I promise you. Divorce hurts and it hurts bad; but, its just a season of your life and it can be a season of growth! Take this time as Gods message to you to take an honest and courageous look at YOUR shortcomings so that you can see them disappear! Ownership is the only path to growth. Do NOT take this time to run to the next he or she to ease your pain -- you arent healthy enough for that and that person doesnt deserve an unhealthy you. Besides, you are just going to hurt them anyway if you are on the rebound from rejection, because you probably will be. Remember, this is just a season of your life and your next love deserves 100% of a healthy you -- one that is better in character than the one you were before. To find a better woman, then you must first become a better man, or vice versa. Plus, if your spouse was that bad, then one of your shortcomings was being a bad judge of character, right? See my point? By the way, when you least expect it -- and with correction -- you might just find yourself back in love with the one you were divorced from. Just ask me ... thats what I did. Go and grow! :)
