Got to again get use to the sounds and rhythms of the jungle surrounding our Philippine home: the haunting cry of the invisible cuckoo somewhere in the dense trees; geckos nearby tuko call; the clatter of large palm fronds falling from the canopy; a distant rainstorm galloping towards us through the trees; the resumption of the chorus of frog, cicada, and maya as soon as the rain stops; random barks of dogs and crows of roosters punctuating our days and nights.
