Got to catch the last showing at the Beartooth of this movie - TopicsExpress

Got to catch the last showing at the Beartooth of this movie tonight. Saw some familiar faces, and sights I miss so much. Erebus, sunset on Mt. Discovery, a rare Adelie sighting, driving a piston bully in a white out, nacreous clouds. All the crazy, wonderful, beautiful people. Some of the most profound moments in my life happened on the bottom of the earth. I still remember hiking by myself to the top of Ob hill at sunset and feeling a beautiful connection to this earth and the universe and the profound feeling of being so very very far away from civilization. I imagine it is as close as one can get on this planet to being on another. Looking out over the pressure ridges and seeing nothing for miles and miles and the curve of the earth... And then the pure joy and appreciation for the small things it gives you like puppies, a childs laugh, fresh fruit, trees, rain, the smell of dirt, sushi, fresh beer... and I can feel that appreciation whenever I feel the need just by remembering how it was to not have them. This movie so accurately captures the feel and beauty and draw of Antarctica and how it grabs hold of you and doesnt let go. Its been a decade since I was in Antarctica and I feel like I just left. Thank you Anthony for capturing years of gorgeous footage and also the spirit of the ice in this movie.
