Gotta say James Taylor and band was incredible last night. Live music doesnt get better! (*) If he tours near you - go see him! Guitarist Mike Landau is one of the finest players around (and played some brilliant pedal steel imitations), Steve Gadd on drums had wonderful groove (of course!) and locked in super tight with Jimmy Johnson on bass. Keys and backing vocals all blended in beautifully... just a complete joy to hear. And as well as being a brilliant songwriter, singer and guitarist (seriously one of the best acoustic guitar players ever!!) JT is such a nice guy, spend the whole 20 minute set break at the front of the stage signing autographs and doing pictures - he never left, and obviously wanted to keep playing at the end. Even if its not your cup of tea style wise, its worth seeing just to experience how the best of the best do it!! (*) Thats not to say they are the best band, but that kind of performance with amazing groove, incredible songs, honest and natural musicality is as good as it gets. There are other bands that reach that level too of course.
