Government agencies from around the world sought information on over 38 thousand Facebook users in the first half of this year. Facebook said this in its first annual report on the scale of data inquiries it gets from countries. The social networking site said these countries include Singapore. It said the Republic made some 107 requests on 117 individuals over the six-month period. When asked to comment, a spokesman from the Ministry of Home Affairs said law enforcement agencies in Singapore may request information that will help in investigations into criminal cases. The spokesman did not confirm how many requests for information were made to Facebook. 938live/ks
