Government offices to close for Labor Day Sarasota County and city of North Port government offices, including libraries, recreation centers and Historical Resources, will be closed Monday, Sept. 2 for the Labor Day holiday. Sarasota County Area Transit (SCAT) bus service will not operate. Garbage collection will not be affected. Residential and commercial customers will have their garbage, recycling and yard waste picked up on their regular collection day. Customers are asked to have their materials to the curb before 7 a.m. Schools and area colleges will be closed. Most banks will not be open, and there will be no mail delivery. The North Port Area Chamber of Commerce office will be closed. The landfill at 4000 Knights Trail Road in Nokomis will be open, but the landfill administration office will be closed Monday. Regular operating hours will be in effect at Sarasota County’s Chemical Collection Centers at 8750 Bee Ridge Road, Sarasota; 4010 Knights Trail Road, Nokomis; and 250 S. Jackson Road, Venice.
