Government to come up with stiff measures for illegal land allocation Government says it will soon come up with stiff measures to deter political party cadres from engaging in illegal land allocation. Minister of lands, Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, Wilber Simuusa, says government will now make sure that those involved in illegal land allocation pay for their illegal dealings. Mr. Simuusa has told QFm in an interview that he has instructed Police to apprehend illegal settlers starting with Lusaka and make sure that they account for their illegal acts and identify those who sold them the land. He says it is unacceptable for people to acquire land without proper documentation. Mr. Simuusa, who is also PF Nchanga Member of Parliament, says a lot has been said about illegal land allocation and now government wants to move in swiftly and deal with the perpetrators. Mr. Simuusa has also revealed that he has written letters to political parties to warn their cadres to stop issuing out land. He adds that the only institution in Lusaka mandated to give out land is the Lusaka City Council. Mr. Simuusa says the PF government is also aware of some people masquerading as PF cadres involving themselves in illegal land allocation and encroachment. He says government will not hesitate to deal with such perpetrators regardless of their political affiliation.
