Governor Jay Nixon of the state of Missouri has called a state of emergency as the citizens of Ferugson, Missouri brace themselves for the verdict that is expected to be handed down by a Ferguson, Missouri Grand Jury, who is right now deciding whether or not to indict officer Darrin Wilson who killed Ferguson, Missouri teen, Michael Brown. The Grand Jury is expected to reach a decision by this weekend. Governor Nixon has called in the National Guard, the FBI and other law enforcement agencies are also present. The governor is preparing for another full scale riot that might erupt, if the Grand Jury fail to indict officer Darrin Wilson. I myself am wondering if the outcome of this tragic incident will end the same way the situation ended in the not guilty verdict that was reached in the trial of George Zimmerman trial, who was on trial for killing Florida teen Trayvon Martin. Whether Darrin Wilson is indicted or not, failure of the grand jury to indict him would be a total travesty of justice. In other words, will Darrin Wilson would have gotten away with cold blooded murder like Zimmerman. There is a likelihood the grand jury might not indict. These two cases are similar in several respects. 1, both teens killed by the two perpetrators were black; 2, they were seventeen (17)years old; 3, they were killed by perpetrators who carried guns. For the Grand jury not to indict Darrin Wilson it would send a chilling message to other would be assassins that black life is valueless where the laws protecting them are concerned and where due process is applied. Blacks, like any other ethnic group deserves and are entitled to equal treatment under the law.
