Govt presents laptops to Western Region teachers As part of NDC 2012 manifesto to transform the economy using Information and Communication Technology, p56 • Government has presented laptop computers to 4, 853 teachers who were trained in ICT. • This is to enable them teach the subject in basic schools. • Additionally a programme of rapid deployment and utilization of ICT to transform the education system to eventually improve the lives of the people has begun. • The Basic School Computerization project, with the aim of supplying 50,000 laptop computers to schools and the provision of network and internet connectivity to first and second cycle schools, have been rolled out. • Again government has contracted three local ICT firms to supply 60,000 laptops to teachers trained by RLG Communication, crafted an ICT in education and the teacher Professional Development policies to regulate the teaching and learning of ICT in schools. • Deputy Minister of Education in charge of Pre-Tertiary Education Mr. Alex Kyeremeh disclosed this during the presentation of the Laptops.
