Govt to revive technical education BENIN CITY - Edo State Government says efforts are being intensified by the administration to revive technical education in the state. Secretary to the State Government (SSG) stated this yesterday in Government House, during a courtesy visit by the state chapter of the Nigerian Advance Party (NAP). The decision by government to revive technical education in Edo state, according to the secretary to the state government, Prof. Julius Ihonvbere, was borne out of the belief that technical education which created room for skill acquisition is major way out of the developmental challenges facing the nation. Acknowledging the support the present administration has enjoyed from members of NAP, the SSG said the administration will sustain its earlier achievements in this second tenure, with special focus on policies that enhance the welfare of the people, including agriculture and employment generation. State chairman, NAP, Mr. Marvelous Imasuen said the visit was to show solidarity with the state government for the unprecedented developmental strides and appealed to government to consider more of their members for job opportunities. At a session with friends of Special Children Foundation, Prof. Ihonvbere who commended the initiative, enjoined the body to build a synergy with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, and other organizations with interests in order to achieve their goals. The SSG noted that considering the challenges involved in running a foundation, it requires extra commitment to understand, organize and care for children with special needs, just as he assured them of government’s support. He said such children should be given the opportunities to achieve what others can. President, friends of Special Children foundation, Mr. Onome Otueroro, said the visit was to appeal to government for support.
