Grabbed gold at CCCFA. Three long, wanky, tumultuous years in the making. For most of my time debating at De Anza, I did not have a partner - and I didnt get to debate at most of the tournaments my team went to. During my first year, I went to maybe one real tournament, where 智广钱 was teaching my the concept of flowing was in-between my first tournament in Junior. Most of my time was spent watching my teammates practice, and running errands to support the team, the rest of it was 智广钱. teaching my policy theory as we moved along. The first half of the second year was also filled with mostly watching, and running errands. I actually got to debate and get some action finally with Michael Dittmer. It was pretty amazing to see someone that talented in action every round, and I ended up learning a lot from him. It was only through Michael that not only was I able to learn through watching, but learn through actual constant and stable debating. We got to outrounds of CCCFA, but at that time I just didnt have enough experience, and we could only net a bronze. This year started off like any other year, only one guy on the team - myself (second time in a row). After a bit of recruiting we stumbled upon other people, but again, people who already were partnered up - the future looks grim yet again. However, fate decided to change in my favor, and I gained a partner that would actually last the majority of the season - Danny Leybzon. And holy shit. Debating together has probably been the best debate experience I think I wouldve ever got the chance to obtain. Despite being partners for only half a year, it seemed like we could pretty much move mountains. Despite losing multiple times to either top-ranked debaters or to judges themselves we somehow managed not to flip out and persevered to get to CCCFA again. This time in home territory, and with a great partner by my side, I finally reach the culmination of my CC Parliamentary debate adventure with getting Gold. I feel as if I should be frustrated that overall these 3 years that the amount of debate I actually got to do is minuscule to the amount that I could have had, if only there was one more person on the team, just one extra person. However, I doubt any CC debater could have gotten a better fate than I did this year. Thanks Danny, for getting gold with me and fulfilling the motto - Yesterday we were kings, Today gods.
