Grace Bible Church Rick Bettez Friday, June 21, 2013 Arrogance finds great comfort in the misfortune or mistakes of others. When faced with the truth arrogance looks for its own definition of truth apart from the word of God. Arrogance resorts to the angry mob mentality when it fails to prove its point. Attack, gang up and over-throw those who uphold truth. 2TI 2:3 Suffer hardship with me, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. JOH 15:20 The slave is not greater than his master, if they persecuted Me they will also persecute you! 2CO 3:16-18 When we turn to the Lord a veil is lifted, the HS goes to work. We then begin to see the transformation that TLJC brings into our lives. 1CO 13:11 When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, think like a child, reason like a child; when I became a man, I did away with childish things. 1CO 13:12 For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I will know fully just as I also have been fully known. Faith or fear grows under testing, challenges and adversity. It is up to you which one you want to develop! MAR 4:38 is the MA sins developing due to negative circumstances surrounding the Apostles, fear is causing them to react like children. MAR 4:40 Why are you afraid (Deilos) timid or fearful, because of weak faith. MAR 4:41 They became very much afraid (Phobeo) and said, "Who is this, even the wind and sea obey Him?" Used here for reverence and obedience. At that moment in the boat when they cried out in fear and accused the Lord of neglect it shined a light on exactly where they were in their spiritual walk. But within a moment the Lord not only calmed the fear & hostile environment, He brought them closer to becoming the men we know today. MAR 1:13 TLJC was tempted by Satan, HEB 2:18 He was tempted and can aid those who are tempted. The one thing that suffering will build is character, it either builds character or reveals a coward. Jesus Christ walked the walk of a godly man in a fleshly world and He suffered & grew through adversity. He gained knowledge and achieved SM at the exact right moment in history. Jesus Christ could know no sin, so that we who are born sinners and have a nature of sin could have the opportunity to walk in sinless perfection like our Savior. MAT 11:29-30 Accept My harness, carry the adversity that comes with being My property, you will gain great wisdom, its (Chrestos) profitable & produces virtuous good now into eternity. LUK 9:23 Jesus said if anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, take up his cross daily & follow me. gbible.org
