Grace For Today Theme: Patience And Perseverance Scriptural Text: Hebrews 6:11-12 And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope until the end, that you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises. (Hebrews 6:11, 12 NKJV) Patience and perseverance, two qualities you would need if you really are bent on expressing the life of glory and virtue that God has called you to. Theres one nickname Ive come to know about God. It is Jehovah overdo; know this, and never forget, that when it comes to you and your life God overdoes it just to make life worth living. Consider this, When God made his promise to Abraham, he backed it to the hilt, putting his own reputation on the line. He said, “I promise that I’ll bless you with everything I have—bless and bless and bless!” Abraham stuck it out and got everything that had been promised to him. (Hebrews 6:14-15 MSG) Abrahams attitude was that of patient endurance or perseverance. We call Abraham “father” not because he got God’s attention by living like a saint, but because God made something out of Abraham when he was a nobody. Isn’t that what we’ve always read in Scripture, God saying to Abraham, “I set you up as father of many peoples”? Abraham was first named “father” and then became a father because he dared to trust God to do what only God could do: raise the dead to life, with a word make something out of nothing. When everything was hopeless, Abraham believed anyway, deciding to live not on the basis of what he saw he couldn’t do but on what God said he would do. And so he was made father of a multitude of peoples. God himself said to him, “You’re going to have a big family, Abraham!” (Romans 4:17, 18 MSG) Abraham didn’t focus on his own impotence and say, “It’s hopeless. This hundred-year-old body could never father a child.” Nor did he survey Sarah’s decades of infertility and give up. He didn’t tiptoe around God’s promise asking cautiously skeptical questions. He plunged into the promise and came up strong, ready for God, sure that God would make good on what he had said. (Romans 4:19-25 MSG) You might have gone through a lot that may have caused you to become bored with being a believer. You may have become spiritually dull and indifferent. But thats not how the script is. Thats not how your story is as far as God is concerned. Rise up! Fight for what you know is yours in Christ. God is not through with you yet. Its not over until you say its over. You are not a quitter, are you? Prayer: Thank you dear father for fresh zeal. I refuse to give up on your word. I have been called to a life of glory and virtue. Thats what I go for. Thank you for your Spirits guidance and might in my lifes quest. In Jesus name. Amen. Jeffrey Osterlie Adjei Email: gkincorp@gmail
