Grace and peace to all on the Lords Day (10.8.14). Todays Worship Meeting Highlights *************************************** Part I: Lords Table: Philippians 2:1-11. Humbled Himself ************************************************************** This is the most beautiful passage on the humility of Christ in all the Bible. The very God left all His glory and came down to earth and took the form of a humble servant. He humbled Himself and became obedient even unto death on the cruel cross. The depth of the Saviors Humility no words can fathom and the height of His exaltation no human mind can comprehend. This is an integral part of our salvation process that He had to undergo to go to the cross. There is better example than the Savior Himself on what humility really is. For mere humans to humble has become difficult because we are basically rebels and full of proud and ego. Once we experience the redemption in His Blood, we will understand how to humble ourselves. At the Lords Table, we meditate on the glory and humility of our Blessed Savior. Amen. Part II: Ministry of the Word: 1 Thessalonians 1:1-10. The Model Church ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When we see so many churches all around us and so many claiming to be believers, how can we know the truth? Where is the standard to measure and to understand what makes a church an ideal and who are in such a church? Pauls letter to Thessalonians describe so clearly the characteristics of an ideal church. 1. The believers faith expressed in works. True faith is manifested in good attitude, works and lifestyle as James wrote in his letter. 2. Their labor of love. All that motivates to labor for the Master and for His Kingdom and to serve one another in the church is Christs love. 3. Their patience of hope. Our hope in the Lord produces patience. 4. The influence of godly lives of the Apostles who ministered to them. Who teach and influence us in our faith and fellowship? 5. Received the Word in much affliction. In the midst of suffering they responded to the good news and accepted the Lord. 6. Their faith was based on the power of the Holy Spirit and not mere human wisdom. 7. They followed Paul and the Lord. Our examples should be closer to the Lord and true followers of Christ. True disciples can make us true disciples. 8. Their repentance we total-turned away from idols to the living God. Some may have left the idols, but their life is still attached to the traditions and practices associated with idolatry. 9. They became example to other churches and Gods Word sounded out from them to all. Being a challenge to all others has been our motto and vision. 10. They were looking for the Lords second coming. Where is your heart? This church had all the spiritual qualities that the Word of God teaches us. The faith, love and hope that are familiar in Pauls letters. Your Church may have so much crowd, entertainment, wealth and properties, etc, but spiritual qualities make it a true church where Christ is honored and His Kingdom prospers. Are you part of such a church or a worldly organization? THINK!
