Grace and peace to all on the Lords Day (12.10.14). Main Message: How God Uses Problems in Your Life (2) *********************************************** Deut 8:3 And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live. Deut 8:4 Thy raiment waxed not old upon thee, neither did thy foot swell, these forty years. We have started meditating on why God allows problems into the believers life. We have seen that God uses problems as His transforming tools to make us Christ-like. And He makes all things (including problems!) to work for our good so that we may become conformed to the image of His Son (Romans 8:28-30). Now secondly, God Uses Problems to make us dependent upon Him. Day by day man seems to become self-sufficient with all the modern Science and technological inventions and discoveries. Many are turning away from God thinking that they dont need God anymore in their lives. However, there are many blessings that we can get by depending on God and there are many things that man cannot accomplish on his own. Great Men were dependent upon Him- to grow their faith. We notice in the record of the Scriptures how God made His own people dependent upon Him, even for basic needs like food, water and clothes. The Israelites had no resources to survive in the long wilderness journey. They had to depend on God for their daily sustenance. God provided a ram to Abraham in the place of his son for sacrifice and Abraham learned to depend on God by calling Him Jehovah Jireh. Gods prophet Elijah was fed by ravens and then by a widow during the time of famine. We can think, how come God could not bless him with His abundance as He did with the Israelites with Manna, etc!? No, God wanted Elijahs faith to grow so that He could use him for His glory. We are not sufficient in ourselves Paul succinctly said that we are not sufficient in ourselves but our sufficiency comes from God (2 Cor. 3:5). Man can boast of his own wealth, wisdom and ability without God in his life. But without God our life is not sufficient. Lord Jesus said that His disciples could do nothing apart from Him but only by abiding in Him (John 15:5). God is trustworthy to depend upon Psalmist so beautifully describes how his eyes are focused on the Lord as the servant looks to the hand of his master (Ps 123:2). Unless the Lord opens His Hand to bless us, no man can help us! So it is better to trust in the Lord so He will bring to pass all His good plans and make our lives meaningful and fruitful (Ps 37:3-5). God gives all things to enjoy Paul exhorts the rich not to trust in the uncertain riches but share and use the God-given wealth in His work and to bless others. It is God who gives us all things richly to enjoy (1 Timothy 6:17). Why We need to depend on God? His promises are more than enough to comfort and give us hope. He gives more than we ask or even imagine (Eph. 3:20-21). He supplies to meet all our needs according to His inexhaustible riches through Christ Jesus our Lord (Phil. 4:19). May we learnt to depend on the Lord in our problems so we will be able to experience His provision and power abundantly and glorify Him. Amen.
