Graduate Software Developer placement - Obair Associates (Glasgow) Obair Associates have an exciting role for an IT graduate to develop and roll out a bespoke assessment software tool for the business to increase assessment staff evaluation productivity. There will be great scope for this role to extend in to other areas and training will be provided to develop the graduates skills. This is a 12 month position with high potential for a permanent role for the right candidate. Project Description Obair Associates work in Occupational rehabilitation, assessing people who are absent from work on their ability to return to work. With growth of over 30% in the last year, we have identified the need for a graduate to help develop tools to make these assessments faster and more efficient, as well as improve the overall tehnical provision for this growing business. The graduate will be responsible for several projects, working from their own initiative, and where necessary with the outsourced IT team. Role Description The primary role will be in the development of a bespoke occupational therapy functional testing application. Currently staff use three open source assessment tools, requiring a large amount of manual entry and reporting. This assessment software will gather data held by the company and enable staff to produce reports more quickly in order to increase assessment staff evaluation productivity. The secondary role will be to develop a "job dictionary or database" to capture the functional demands of occupations, enabling staff to easily and quickly search for and match the capabilities of individuals with suitable roles. The graduate will also have the opportunity to develop in other IT areas according to their interest areas, for instance working with the outsourced IT team on projects to improve the business, developing the Sharepoint, or digital marketing around the new website, being launched in May. This is an interesting and varied position, and the graduate will be able to support the business on a day to day basis with their knowledge as well as develop their skills. Skills / Experience Essential: We are looking for a graduate with knowledge of Database system development, with one of the following languages: ASP.net OR Java OR C++ Some knowledge of MS SQL Server 2008 Express Desireable: Some knowledge of MS Sharepoint - training can be provided Some knowledge of MS Exchange - training can be provided A positive, forward-looking attitude Resourceful, proactive and flexible Good written and verbal skills Able to work collaboratively to achieve objectives.
