Grand Prix Update: There have been some great performances by members lately culminating in valuable and well-earned points in both the Senior and Junior GPs. Here is an update of the senior GP positions after the Spire 10. A reminder - the GP is the combined best points score of 4 races from each category, meaning a minimum of 12 races have to be completed - 4 fell, 4 mixed, 4 road. Only 3 races left in the Fell section. In the Mixed section 5 races left, of these Belper Rugby Rover can be pre-entered (but not compulsory). In the Road section there are 4 races left and of these Wilne 10Km, Clowne Half Marathon and Bolsover 10km will need to be pre-entered. At present, Colin Davenport is ahead in the men’s GP with a total of 95 points with Mick Moorhouse 2nd (80 points) and Dennis Belbin 3rd (68 points). Come on lads – we can’t let Colin win again!! In the ladies’ GP Christine Howard is leading with 83 points, Jan Forrester 2nd with 45 points (but with my ongoing injury, can’t see me being a contender!) and 3rd in the ladies Alison Pye and Nicky Dick both with 35 points. The next race is Brassington Wakes Fell Race on 31st July. So do the math and get some points!! The Junior GP after the Winster Hill Race. A reminder – for the juniors it is the best points tally from 12 of the 18 races. At present, Michaela Dick is winning with a total of 74 points, but it is very tight after that with Toby Gill 2nd on 57 and John Webster 3rd with 56. Bronwyn Lessiter is on 54 points, Lizzie Webster on 52, Lily Phillips 51, Spencer Whittle 49 and Mariana Kuszynski 48. There are still 10 races to go, so plenty to play for. There will also be recognition for the U10s The next race is Bonsall Fell Race in August. Date tbc. Latest results tables on the website
