Grandma’s Marathon was today here in Duluth. I had to walk to - TopicsExpress

Grandma’s Marathon was today here in Duluth. I had to walk to work this morning due to the fact that my entire commute (all of a 5 min drive) was closed for the runners. Even though it was a cool and dreary day, the walk was amazing. There was music and excitement in the air, but most of all there was support for the runners. Cowbells clanging, clapping, cheering, and shouts of “you can do it” encouraging the runners to keep going. It was overwhelming and made me think of all those who support us. Just a little background for you…Ben and I lived the last 10 years in CA before moving to Duluth and opening our store. Some would say we took a huge leap of faith leaving behind secure jobs, close friends, my Dad and his family, all to bring our son closer to the outdoors (funny Duluth just won Best Outdoor City to Live In) and the majority of both of our families (we are both originally from Wisconsin). We signed our lease on the space here at Fitger’s sight unseen and made the trek across country to open a business in a city we knew of, but yet unfamiliar. We couldn’t have done it without your support! To those we left who didn’t want us to go, yet still said “you can do it”, those who were here who were our “eyes” and continue to help us whenever needed, and those who walk in our doors and bring us business every day, I want to say THANK YOU for your support! Ben and I are running our own marathon and we couldnt do it without your business, support, and encouragement. Thank you! ~ Jamie
