Grateful for another amazingly generous congregational meeting in which Rincon UCC unanimously approved $200,000 in disbursement of the unrestricted bequest from Gertrude Scofield. This has been a years process of congregational meetings, careful study and biblical reflection, followed by the crafting of a project proposal with clear criteria. Six ministry projects were approved today for a kitchen remodel so we can share our safe, energy efficient, and expanded capacity kitchen space with community non-profits; upgrades for digital worship in our rapidly growing early service in Fellowship Hall; pay off our roof loan, saving the congregation $8,000 a year and assuring a general reserve fund; support for Interfaith Community Services emergency assistance program, support for Dishes and Stories teaching Our Mothers recipes: Creating Community Through Food; and Creating Wounded Healers--Linking Incarcerated Teens to Rincon Seniors and Community Members. Come, Holy Spirit, Come!
