Gratefulness Challenge Day #2: Travel: One of my favorite things to do is to travel, and experience new places, and meet new people. Although I have a LONG list of places that I still want to go, I am grateful that I have been able to experience and see so much. The more I travel, the greater my wanderlust. The world is truly a beautiful place, and I am thankful to have seen as much of it as I have, with plans to see a lot more. Sense of Adventure: My mom once told me that she arrived in the States the day following the Detroit Riots of 1967. She didnt want to travel on the Sabbath, so she booked her flight for Friday, arrived at her new home, went to bed, got up Sabbath morning, and started getting ready for church. She got dressed, walked outside, and hitched a ride to the closest SDA church she could find, from a man, she told me, that was driving a car the same color as my dress. When I heard this story, I suddenly realized where I came from. Its not easy to leave your home country and decide to make a new one somewhere else, especially when you have no friends or family, and all you know of the culture is from stories and the news, especially in such a tumultuous time in the US as the 60s, so I thank both of my parents for being willing to take that step that changed their lives, changed my destiny, and taught me that sometimes, you have to put one foot in front of the other, and jump. Family: I am incredibly thankful for my family. I am very fortunate to the clan that loved me from the beginning, looks out for me, supports me, protects me, laughs with me, and is there just to talk when I need it. Thank you for everything, forever, and for always.
