Gratiot County 911 has been down as well as all 7 digit lines into the Dispatch Center. We have maintained (1) incoming phone line for the public as well as (1) additional line for outgoing calls. I arrived here at the Center around 1:40AM, Frontier had been contacted prior to my arrival. I contacted TV-5, 12 ,25, and TV 6, they have been running scrolls along the bottom of the screen for the public to call 875-5213 for police-fire-ems. This was posted on our facebook page, the local radio stations were contacted. The outage was due to a car accident in Montcalm County on M-46 near Edmore. The accident damaged a Frontier pole & Fiber cable. Fire Depts have been advised of the situation, the damaged fiber cable has knocked out 911 & all or partial phone service out for the following: Gratiot County-Montcalm Co-Isabella Co-Roscommon Co-Presque Isle Co-Alpena-Clinton Co-Shiawassee Co. Frontier has crews working to splice 500 feet of damaged fiber cable. Estimated time of repair is 10AM.
