Great bike ride yesterday morning with Rich and Scott. First time to climb the paved road up North Cheyenne Canyon. But before that, I saw two fawns pop around the corner of a drive off Cheyenne Blvd. The one started towards me, but then pranced down the road along side me, 4 legs in unison, high prances, very awesome and dare I say adorable! Later going downhill I passed within 10 feet of a very large deer as it turned away from the road (and thankfully did not run into the road). Did not see it until I was right on it because the big boy was hiding in some scrub oak. Early morning riding: less cars, more deer! Finally, I checked the calibration on my bike speedometer/odometer yesterday, and it checked fine. That means my recent mileage totals are accurate within a half percent: 718 miles starting June 4th and ending June 14th, with all the Ride the Rockies features (6 passes, climbs on Battle and Storm Mountain and descending Lookout Mountain ridetherockies), over 35000 feet of climbing, and a complete loop from my house to Boulder to Steamboat Springs to Golden and back home. 920 miles so far in June.
