Great job, dad! At Active Self Protection we have great respect for United States Marines, and this Marine saved himself and his daughter. :) Lessons: 1. CARRY YOUR GUN! This is a great DGU that will never make any statistics because no one died. But it certainly stopped a violent crime in progress. 2. Awareness is king. This man really was aware of the threat at 15-20 feet. The Tueller Drill means that this man was in real danger, but thankfully he saw it early enough that he was able to respond. 3. Though it was okay in this instance, carry your defensive firearm with a round in the chamber. He had to move his 2-year-old daughter out of the way. What if she was in a place where he had to hold her? Or if the bad guy charged and he needed a hand to keep him at distance? That second hand is a luxury you cant guarantee, so dont count on it. Carry with a round in the pipe. Attitude. Skills. Plan.
