Disney/Marvel movies have benefitted from a lot of clever, funny writers (Shane Black, Joss Whedon) and clever, funny performers (Robert Downey Jr, Tom Hiddleston), but their direction is almost uniformly humorless and rote. The same thing can be said of Adam McKay movies. Edgar Wright being attached to Ant-Man represented an exciting possibility of the cinematography bar being raised higher for not only Disney/Marvel movies, but big budget Hollywood comedies in general. buuuuuut that turned out about as well as one would expect, I guess.
