Great news: Broadchurch, Britains most affecting mystery tale in recent years, is coming to America in the fall, retitled Gracepoint. Everything worked about the British series--the writing, the pace, the characters--though unquestionably a big part of its dramatic success owed to David Tennants portrayal of the lead detective. Gracepoint, it turns out, also casts Tennant in the same role. Some critics have complained about the Scottish actors version of an American accent, but Ill be surprised if that proves detrimental to such a haunting and devastating tale. Though previews indicate a faithful remake, Tennant has said the Gracepoint will have a different ending than Broadchurch. That will be interesting, because Broadchurch certainly pulled off its final hour.
