Great news from Nova Scotia!!! Heather Rolfe-Reid: 12 minutes ago BIG EXCITING LYME NEWS!!!!! Nova Scotia to be the possible FIRST to RECOGNIZE Lyme Disease!!!!!!! Hey all...the Nova Scotia Conservatives are taking a BIG stand on LYME Disease on their own....they want the Liberals etc to join them in forming an IMMEDIATE strategy on Lyme issues!!! Jamie Ballie....the leader of the opposition party....just called me this morning to tell me it was just debated a few hours ago.... He had been hearing about my progress....and was curious as to How, etc... I took the opportunity to tell him the realities we deal with ....no healthcare....doctors are threatened, with having their license revoked, if they treat us.... how BIG and widespread lyme really is.....etc... He was very interested in the fact that there really is NO WHERE we can go for help....and the thought that maybe NS could be the leader...in this world wide health epidemic. They are extremely SERIOUS about the issue as most of them (politicians) have met us personally and seen us at our worst. I think it would be great if all parties worked together for this....it should not be a liberal, conservative, NDP or Green party issue....it is an issue of the PEOPLE..... Guys...I am excited about this....most politicians dont remember you and call you out of the blue to tell you they are trying to help you...unless they really care. He wants to do TEAM WORK!!!! YAY!!! And I believe they want to be ahead of the National strategy that is up for grabs nation wide. They want it no matter what the rest of the country does. Thus we discussed the fact that ....we could be the Lyme Health Care Centre...that does not exist anywhere. Imagine.....a place for lyme people to go....!! And to be recognized....as people who are sick!!!! YES!!! Below is the official request for help they are seeking. ... I hope they all play together... And I also see this as a REALITY soon to happen.... Legislature debates PC’s Lyme Disease Strategy Houston calling on Liberals to support April 16, 2014 For immediate release HALIFAX, NS – Today in the Legislature, Progressive Conservative MLA for Pictou East, Tim Houston is calling on the Liberals to support a Provincial Lyme Disease Strategy. The Bill being debated today was introduced by Houston last week. It would create a medical surveillance program to properly track incidence rates and associated economic costs of Lyme Disease. “I am proud to be able to bring forward this long overdue legislation,” says Houston. “I’m calling on the Liberals to act swiftly and join the PC Caucus to take action on Lyme disease.” Houston says the Act will create a provincial standard of care to reflect best practices for treatment. He has heard from many people across the province, who have been suffering due to Lyme disease. “We must address the discrepancies in diagnosis and treatment,” says Houston. “”The Liberals should take advantage of the opportunity we have to learn more about combatting Lyme disease by supporting this legislation.”
