Great question, what is a Christian? If I say I am a Christian does that make me a Christian? All I have to do is say it and then it makes it true? Heres the big question, do I know Jesus? I dont mean to know Jesus on an educational basis. The ability to know all the teachings of Jesus. I mean to know Jesus in the context of a daily relationship with him. to know Jesus and to love him, even loving him more than my Mother, my Wife, my Children. Will I deny myself to place Jesus as my #1 relationship and my #1 love? will I daily place Jesus as my personal Lord and Savior? If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters--yes, even their own life--such a person cannot be my disciple. --Luke 14:26 (Context, Jesus is not saying to hate your family literally, what he means is to place Him above all other relationships) Then Jesus said to his disciples, Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. --Matthew 16:24 In Acts 11:27, where we read that The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch (NIV). Does it say the people were called Christians? No, it says the disciples were called Christian. Peter was a disciple was he perfect? No, but he was a disciple. He clearly loved Jesus, he clearly had a relationship with Jesus. He lived a life that reflected his devotion to Jesus. Peter loved Jesus even when he knew it would cost him his life. That did not diminish his love and relationship with Jesus. I ask you the reader, what is a Christian?
