Great rant of net neutrality. The Sherman Antitrust Act of 1890 were created to prevent railroads from doing exactly what the ISPs are asking the FCC to let them do. Railroad barons use to over charge businesses for access to the end customers of their products. They would drive those businesses out of business and then the railroad barons would then buy up the defunct businesses for pennies and make hoards of money. As most businesses only had the use of the railroad to get their goods to their customers they had no power to prevent this. Today ISPs are seeking permission from the FCC to charge content providers whatever they want to transport information to their end customers. Unless todays corporations are more egalitarian and less profit driven that those of 125 years ago, this is a bad idea.
