Great time to wander outside now in the mid-evening and have a look at the brightest star in the night sky & reflect on how it & the constellation of Orion were viewed by the Ancient Egyptians. Sopdet the Egyptian name for the star Sirius was identified as their goddess Isis. The constellation that we now call Orion was identified as their god of the underworld Osiris, which they called Sahu. Furthermore, the Egyptians believed that Sahu was the soul of the god Osiris & references to Sahu are found in the Egyptian Book of the Dead.
