Great video to give some perspective about living on social assistance. In the work I do I am blessed to meet some extraordinary people. People that regardless of what life has dealt them, keep on going, never give up and strive for a better life. Finding good employment is a challenge for anyone. Add the multiple barriers of disability to the mix and it presents an even greater challenge. It hurts my heart when I see/hear social assistance bashing. Realistically most of us are only a couple of pay cheques away from social assistance if a life trauma happened. In every group there are people who will cheat, people who work sometimes steal from their employers, people who are self employed might not be totally honest with what they earn, people who receive unemployment insurance might cheat and sometimes people who receive social assistance cheat. Sadly it is the nature of our society today. Please dont paint everyone with the same brush and remember that there are many many awesome, wonderful, never give up people who receive social assistance.
