Great visit with the Chairman of the Otara-Papatoetoe Local Board, Faanana Efeso Collins and officer of Auckland Council, Maureen Nepia. Thank you for the tour of the council chambers in Manukau! I will be in Otaras Christmas Parade today, which will be the first parade in 36 years for the area. The celebrations start from 5pm on Saturday and are in two parts. The parade itself features 40 floats and close to 180 people and will be followed by dancing, music and entertainment from cultural groups, schools and churches in the Otara shopping centre stage area. The parade is also about place-making, building thriving communities, celebrating age-friendly events and promoting positivity in the community, she said.It starts at 6pm on Saturday and travels along Bairds Rd and into the town centre.
