Great weekend for the club!! Everyone who competed did themselves and the club proud. The comp was fantastic, atmosphere amazing and the whole set up was first class. Marie Walker came away with first place and a national and world record pulling 105kg @ 54kg bodyweight Patricia Page came away with 2 records and a pb in the deadlift! (which was a world record) She also won best female raw heavyweight deadlifter!!! John Walker went 3/3 and pulled a 210kg pb! This is only part of the story though. John lost about 8kg in the 10 weeks prior to the comp. to do that and still get stronger is a testament to his attitude and work ethic. I came 2nd against one of the strongest deadlifters in the country. We went head to head and pushed each other all the way. Even in defeat it was still my favourite competition to date and look forward to more battles with him in the future. The other big news from the weekend is that I am delighted to announce that I am now the Ulster Representative for the IPO. It was an honour to be asked and be part of the best federation in Ireland, and I look forward with working to help it get even better in the future! Also just wanted to let people know that in a few weeks theres a massive comp in Drogheda next month, 25th/26th October. I will be doing the full power on the Saturday but there are single lifts on the Sunday for the bench and deadlift. Personally i think alot of us should be doing the single lifts even if its deadlift only. Anybody interested? Need to know asap as the closing date is this week.
