Great win by the Madelia Jr. high football team today, as they downed Nicollet by a final of 38-16. After an opening touchdown drive capped by a touchdown run by Luke (still learning same last names, sorry) and a kickoff return touchdown by Nicollet on the ensuing kickoff, madelia got tough. A 41-yard touchdown run by Josh Sletta, followed by Isaac Arduser first career interception kept the blackhawks ahead 22-16 at the half before Madelia outscored the raiders 16-0 in the second half. Sletta finished the game leading the Madelia offense with 207 yards on 10 carries, including touchdown runs of 41, 35, 53 and 18 yards. Jeffrey Alvarenga had some great hard runs including three two-pt conversion runs. The win moves Madelia to 2-0 on the young season.
