Greening #MariposaLive Mariposa Folk Festival decided in 2009 to go green in a big way. The video below is of Mariposa President and Festival Chair, Pam Carter, giving an historical overview of how it got started. In the first year, the festival diverted 77% of its waste away from the landfill. Waste materials were comprised 65% of organics or #compostable material, and 12% of #recyclable materials. The remaining 23% of waste generated at the festival was garbage and ended up in the landfill. * Lets keep greening not only on July 4, 5, 6 - but on a daily basis *
