Greetings: > All area drummers are cordially invited to participate in a welcoming ceremony in Lincoln, Nebraska for the Great March for Climate Action. > The walk began in California several months ago, and is headed for Washington, D.C. The March will reach a midway point right here in Lincoln on Thursday evening, July 24, 2014. > When they arrive, many Nebraskans — including dozens of drummers from all nations, all traditions — will participate in a short ceremonial walk around our State Capitol — circumambulate — with this band of about 50 long-walking pilgrims. > They are on a mission for all of us: The goal of the Great March for Climate Action is to change the heart and mind of the American people, our elected leaders and people across the world to act now to address the climate crisis. > Lincoln-area Drummers — representing all the traditions of the world — can play an important part in welcoming the Marchers to Star City, and energizing them as they journey onward toward the East. By coming together to sound a powerful unified rhythm, we will sow a potent and positive message as we walk together in unity around our State Capital Building. ***> Details: Gather on the North Side of the State Capital at 4:45 PM on Thursday, July 24. That will give us a few minutes to organize ourselves and find our rhythm. > At about 5 PM the marchers will arrive. After a brief welcoming ceremony all marchers and the drummers — along with many other Lincolnites who care about climate change and its impact on all our lives — will walk and drum together, circumnambulating the Capitol. > Bring your friends and family. Invite all the drummers you know to come along. > All Drummers of All Nations are welcome. Rattles and shakers are welcome, too.
