Greetings, Critical Mashers! The 2nd Annual Critical Mash - TopicsExpress

Greetings, Critical Mashers! The 2nd Annual Critical Mash Competition was a rousing success! (and Im not just talking about the hefeweizen...[1]) We were bigger than last year, at 125 entries, 66 participants and 25 judges. Almost all beers were judged by three judges, one of which was BJCP certified. We had a judging orientation session ahead of time to learn about judging and/or brush up on our skills. The results are available at the competition website: AtomMashers.org/Critical_Mash/ Congratulations to the winners! Much thanks to all those that helped out by judging, stewarding, and donating goods and services. We have a lot of prizes to distribute to the winners this year -- all the sponsors will be updated on the website and the Facebook page (https://facebook/pages/Critical-Mash/834256759918224) soon, and they will also be mentioned in the awards presentation. The awards ceremony will be in my party basement at 2326 Canyon Glen Rd. in Los Alamos on Tuesday [2], October 21st, 2014, starting at 6:00 pm. Please come to pick up your scoresheets, awards and prizes. I will also have them at the Santa Fe Open judging (SantaFeOpen.org/). If you havent picked them up by the time thats over, Ill mail them to you or make other arrangements. The awards will be given out, but there will also be sampling of the remaining competition beer, and potentially a few freebies for attendees. Please come even if you didnt enter, judge or steward. Spouses & friends welcome. You can bring a snack if you like, and we will appreciate it. This party is in the basement of my new house. The front door will be locked, but signs will direct you around to what the Brits call a snicket [3] on the right side, where you will go through a short gate and follow some uneven stairs down to the back yard, to enter at the basement level. Hopefully Ill get the lights on that path working. Also, you should know that although some of our categories were small, our winners deserved to win. The judges were instructed to give out awards only if the entries were worthy, by their judgment, so you will see categories where some awards are missing. You can be proud of winning! Cheers, Mike Critical Mash organizer [1] - Hefes are often roused before pouring to suspend the yeast. [2] - Apologies for the midweek date. Ive been busy every weekend since the judging, and from now until the SF Open. I wanted to do the awards before then, hence... [3] - urbandictionary/define.php?term=snicket
