Greetings FBF, Saints and friends, I will from this point, always post the Sunday School lessons on Friday, because I have face book saints from other places across the International Date Line, in other countries, that do follow these lessons closely, and our time is at least 9-14 hours behind theirs. So to give them time to study and get ready for the Sunday School Lesson, the Holy Ghost dropped in my spirit to post the lesson on Fridays. BEAR WITH US, AND PRAY FOR US AND THEM!!!!!!!! ************************************************************************************************ NOW SAINTS OF GOD – GOT YOUR PEN AND PAD READY - TO TAKE SCRIPTURES AND NOTES for this Sundays Lesson OUR SUNDAY SCHOOL LESSON FOR TOMORROW: TAKEN FROM: Standard Lesson Commentary - KJV International Sunday School Lessons Lesson 2 - Standard Lesson Commentary - KJV SUNDAY- September 14, 2014 TITLED: HOPE FOR THE FUTURE PRINTED TEXT: Jeremiah 31: 31-37 GOLDEN TEXT: Jeremiah 31:31 Sunday School Song For This Lesson: My Hope Is Built On Nothing Less INTRODUCTION: In this second lesson for the new quarter, The theme of this quarter being Sustaining Hope, and our lesson being Hope for the future, this week’s lesson will address God’s covenant with Old Testament Israel and look at His promise through Jeremiah of a new covenant – a better one. Hope sustained God’s people in exile, and can yet even more so sustain us today. Jeremiah 31 speaks mostly of a time of restoration. Such restoration was not to come until after 538BC, the year the exile ended. The prophet pictures this restoration as a great parade of the “remnant of Israel” returning from all directions. This throng is not a victorious army, but includes pregnant women, the blind, the lame, all weeping with joy. This sets the tone for Jeremiah’s broader vision of a new covenant. Word meaning……. 1. Covenant – A formal, solemn, binding agreement, between two or more parties for the performance of some action 2. Hope…. Desire accompanied by expectation of or belief in fulfillment...... Desired expectation….. 1st OUTLINE- NEW COVENANT PROMISED Jeremiah 31:31-32 God’s firmly established intention to make a new covenant is seen in the verse before us in the I will statement, the first of six in today’s text. Jeremiah explains the old covenant, the one mediated by Moses after God rescued the nation of Israel from the land of Egypt. God upheld His side of the covenant but Israel did not. 2nd OUTLINE - NEW COVENANT DESCRIBED – Jeremiah 31: 33, 34 In Jeremiah’s discussion of God’s covenant to come, he shifts to an image of the future by telling the reader that he is passing along something that will be realized after those days. He reveals the second of the Lord’s “ I will” promises: I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts. The third “I will” statement is to be the essence of the new covenant as it was intended to be with the old. Under this new covenant, God creates a people for Himself by writing His law on their hearts and in their minds in calling them out of spiritual bondage and sin rather out of physical bondage in Egypt. He calls people out of the darkness of sin and error into the marvelous light of knowledge of Him and relationship with Him (2 Corinthians 4:6). The partial verse of 34a and 34b features the fourth and fifth “I will” statements of the Lord. This text is saying and taking these two “I will” statements as parallel expressions of a single thought: for God “forgiving” and “not remembering” are the same thing. He no longer holds our iniquity against us. 3rd Outline – NEW COVENANT’S PERMANENCE - Jeremiah 31:35-37 Having contrasted the old and new covenants to explain how people will relate to God, Jeremiah now begins describing the new covenant’s permanence. To reflect on the creation of sun, moon, stars, and sea is to reflect on the eternal nature of God as Creator. The Lord’s commitment to Israel is now illustrated in another way. He promises that the day when humans are able to measure heaven above and search out the foundations of the earth is when He will renege on His covenant relationship with the seed of Israel. we know that it is not ever going to happen since there is no method for searching out the foundations of the earth or measuring the vast heavens; even so NOW SAINTS OF GOD – GOT YOUR PEN AND PAD READY - TO TAKE SCRIPTURES AND NOTES AS I EXTRAPOLATE- 3 POINTS FROM THIS LESSON “ HOPE FOR THE FUTURE”. POINT #1 – HOPE FOR THE FUTURE IN THE HOME Deuteronomy 6:20, 24 (20)And when thy son asketh thee in time to come, saying, What mean the testimonies, and the statures, and judgments which the Lord our God commanded you? (24) And the Lord commanded us to do all these statures, to fear the Lord for our God, for our good always, that He might preserve us alive, as it is this day, Ephesians 6: 1 -3 (1) Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right (2) Honor thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise; (3) That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth. Ephesians 5: 25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave Himself for it. POINT #2 HOPE FOR THE FUTURE IN THE CHURCH Jeremiah 31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days saith the Lord, I will put my law in their inward parts in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. Malachi 3:17 And they shall be mine, saith the Lord of host, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him. Roman 6:5-8 (5) For if we have been planted together in the likeness of His death, we shall be also in the likeness of His resurrection. (6) Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin, (7) For he that is dead is freed from sin. (8) Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him; POINT #3 – HOPE FOR THE FUTURE IN THE WORLD. Micah 6:8 He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God? Matthew 22:37-40 (37) Jesus said unto him, Thou shall love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, (38) This is the first and great commandment. (39) The second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. (40) On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets A Sunday School song that reminds us of HOPE FOR THE FUTURE I Will make The Darkness Light Verse 1 I will make the darkness light before thee, What is wrong I’ll make it right before thee All your battles I will fight before thee, And the high place I’ll bring down. Verse 2 With an everlasting love I’ll love thee, Through with trials deep and sore I’ll prove thee, But there’s nothing that can hurt or move thee, And the high place I’ll bring down Verse 3 Although satan in his rage would tear thee, And with all his winning arts would snare thee, Even down to thine old age I’ll bear thee, And the high place I’ll bring down. Verse 4 I will make the darkness light before thee, I will make the crooked straight before thee, I will spread my wings of protection o’ver thee, And the high place I’ll bring down. Chorus When thy walkest by the way I’ll lead thee, On the fatness of the land I’ll feed thee, And a mansion in the sky I’ll deed thee, And the high place I’ll bring down. In Conclusion Hebrews 9:15 says of this HOPE FOR THE FUTURE And for this cause He is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance. As this second lesson in this Fall quarter points us to the birth of Christ, we are reminded that no matter of how bad things seem to be today, there is hope for a better tomorrow. This is why Jesus came to the earth. The hopes and fears of all the years were met in Him tonight, as one Christmas song sings. So no matter of how dim the light looks, now there is a brighter day ahead because of Jesus. We can live without a lot of things, but we cannot live without HOPE. The new testament depends on the foundation of the Old Testament to make its claim. It is the sacrificial system of the old covenant that allows us to understand the atoning sacrificial death of Jesus - a central doctrine of the Christian faith. Remember, where there is life, there is hope, and the only hope we have is in Christ Jesus. This ministry that God through the Holy Ghost is why Jesus came to the earth, to give HOPE to the hopeless. It’s about a giving Father who gave His Son JESUS to a world without hope. So we are to tell the people that do not know Jesus, and is living in a state of hopelessness, of the love of God - as God expressed -His love for humanity – by giving us His Son – and the Son - personified that action by giving His life as in St. John 3:16-17 that says - (16) For God so loved the world – that He gave His only Begotten Son- that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish – but have everlasting life (17) For God sent not His son into the world to condemn the world – but the world through Him might be saved. So tell them, Come to the fountain so rich and sweet – Cast thou poor soul at the Savior’s feet. Plunge in today and be made complete – Glory to His name!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Jesus is still calling sinners to repentance - as in Matthew 9:13 - I dare not close this lesson without asking -If there is anyone- reading this Face Book Page -who is tired of the load of your sins- and tired of living in sin- and you desire to repent of your sins- and to accept Jesus as your personal Savior- and to be ready for His soon return- to live eternal life with Jesus- It is of the utmost “urgency” that you come and repent now - Don’t let this moment pass-You do not know when the night will come in your life – neither do you know where death is- Or when Jesus might come back. Accept Jesus now as your personal Savior- and to be ready for His soon return- to live eternal life with Jesus- It is of the utmost “urgency” that you Come Now – Don’t risk- dying without Jesus- and going to hell and eternal torment- Hell is too hot – eternity is too long - There is STILL room - at the cross for you –- Jesus- is saying – come, the Spirit and the Bride say, come. And let him that heareth, come. And let him that is athirst, Come. And whosoever will - let him take the water of life freely. Right now-put your heart –mind- and thoughts on Jesus repeat and say in your heart with me. Lord Jesus- come into my heart- I repent of my sins- and I accept you as my personal Savior- my Redeemer- I know that you died on the cross- for my sins. Wash me thoroughly- from mine iniquities – my rebellion - cleanse and save me- from my sins. I give my heart – to you -Save me Jesus- Save me Jesus- Save me Jesus. Now tell Him- thank you Jesus for saving me - thank you Jesus. Now- that you have accepted Jesus – as you’re personal Savior- your next step is to be filled with the Holy Ghost to have something “to keep you from falling” as in Jude 1:24. To this end you need to go and join in a Holy Ghost filled church with other Holy Ghost filled saints, and that you be baptized- in the name of Jesus – as in Acts 2:38 - for the remission of your sins- and be filled with the Holy Ghost – in order to live a saved - and sanctified life- pleasing to God – and in a readiness state - in the Holy Ghost - for His soon return – I and other Saints of God will continue to pray for you. – Because - He is coming back for The Church “His Bride”. So as in Ephesians 5: 27 - that He might present to Himself a glorious Church, not having spot, nor wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be Holy and without blemish. SCRIPTURE TO REMEMBER FOR THIS LESSON: Jeremiah 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah… Prayer for this lesson: HOPE FOR THE FUTURE Jesus, as we are commanded to prayer, help us to keep our spirits focused on you so you can teach us how to pray. We do look for a better tomorrow, but we also know that You are our hope for tomorrow and for our better tomorrow. You are our hope for the future. We will evangelize the world for You as you have gave us a ministry of giving hope for the future. You are our hope for tomorrow. We will remind them of the commandments from God – and make mention that the wages of sin is still death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. We will bless the Lord at all times, your praises will continually be in our mouths in the name of Jesus Christ. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
