Greetings and Happy Christmas! On this fourth Sunday of Advent - TopicsExpress

Greetings and Happy Christmas! On this fourth Sunday of Advent we light the Angel’s candle as we continue to prepare our hearts and minds for Christmas Day. In Luke’s Gospel, chapter 2:8-11 we read: ‘And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Christ, the Lord.’ (NIV) The Angel’s played an important role as they announced the birth of the Christ-child but we also celebrate the faithfulness of the Shepherds who quickly assessed the situation and journeyed to Bethlehem to ‘see this thing that has happened that the Lord has told us about.’ As we continue our spiritual preparation in anticipation of Christmas Day, it is our prayer that the true meaning and message of Christmas will be yours. In closing, Commissioner Silvia and I invite you to reflect on the words of Luke 2 as well as at the beautiful and familiar carol written by Charles Wesley, ‘Hark the Herald Angels Sing’. ‘Hark the herald angels singGlory to the newborn King!Peace on earth and mercy mildGod and sinners reconciledJoyful, all ye nations riseJoin the triumph of the skiesWith the angelic host proclaim:Christ is born in BethlehemHark! The herald angels singGlory to the newborn King!’ Happy Christmas – and may God bless you and yours this season and always.
