Greetings from the Pastor, Fr. Louis Petruha, OFM, Cap Holy - TopicsExpress

Greetings from the Pastor, Fr. Louis Petruha, OFM, Cap Holy Week, beginning today with Palm Sunday, is about ‘memory’. There may be some nostalgic memory of days gone by and the way we celebrated Holy Week. But Holy Week is also a contemporary memory of accepting Jesus at his Word and doing what he asked of us: ‘Do this in memory of Me!” We remember each time we participate in Mass, each time we read the Scriptures. This week, however, the ‘memory’ of what Jesus did is celebrated over three days. First, Jesus gives us the Eucharist and his example of service; secondly, Jesus dies on the cross for our redemption; and lastly his glorious resurrection and the new life Jesus brings to the world and to us personally. Lots of ‘memories’! And no doubt memories that can and still shape our lives. Hopefully, this Lenten Season and this Holy Week of memories will do just that: reshape our lives...bring us closer...to God and to the Church...give us a right attitude toward God...intensify our desire to ‘activate’ the Gospel...discover what God wants of me...deepen our gratitude for blessings not deserved...knowing Jesus again...sharing our faith with our children...desiring to be holy. May your Holy Week be blessed and graced!
