Greetings from the holy lands! We are at the International Municipal Solidarity Conference in Ramallah Palestine just over 10km from Jerusalem. I am hosted by the organisers courtesy of HE the Palestinian Ambassador to Zimbabwe. Over 500 delegates from all over comparing municipal notes and in particular sharing the very difficult situation in the State of Palestine. This generation must deal with this tragedy. We owe it to future generations to transfer this disaster from news and current affairs to the history channel. I had first-hand encounter... lucky to be here! I have met and exchanged possibilities earlier in the day with the Vera Baboun mayor of Bethlehem. Tomorrow or later today I will meet the mayor of East Jerusalem. Out of these two - Harare - please watch this space! A quick chat with brother-from-another-mother Joburg mayor Parks Tau confirmed sadly that he WONT be coming for the Harare Mayors Cheer Fund Golf Day on 29th as he has another trip overseas. He will however create time to come for a round of golf and discussions ( in that order obviously!) hopefully before end of year. We are now waiting for the President of Palestine to arrive and address the gathering.
