Greetings to all! Our time here in Haiti continues to be a blessing! Today was an incredible day that I know all of us will remember for a very long time. We continued our Vacation Bible School at the Orphanage this morning with those precious little children that have captured our hearts… these kids are so eager to be loved on and are ready to jump into our arms whenever they see an opportunity. I am so proud of the way that our students have loved and served so selflessly and I know that tomorrow is going to be a VERY difficult day as we say goodbye to these children that we have grown so fondly of in such a short period of time. This afternoon we did a service project for the community and went to the local wells and offered to pump water for those that came and then carry it to their homes. Once word got out that we were doing this, MANY people brought multiple jugs and were very grateful for our help! Although it doesn’t sound like a lot, carrying a 5-gallon bucket full of water a few blocks is not an easy task and it was eye opening for all of us to see how difficult it is for many people to get drinkable water. Definitely made us appreciate the things back home that we so often take for granted! This evening many of our team members played soccer with some boys in the community and thoroughly enjoyed that… there field is composed of primarily rocks and dirt but almost all of them play barefoot which made us cringe just watching them… they are MUCH tougher than us! :) Tomorrow, we will wrap up our VBS and then we are going to have a gentleman from the church (who is fluent in English) talk with our group about the history of Haiti and give us more insight into Haitian life. Then we are excited to have the opportunity to pack backpacks full of school supplies for many orphans and under-privileged children. The Vacation Bible School efforts at Calvary this year went to help with this and so it will be an honor for our group to help complete the task that so many others had a hand in making possible! Thanks again for all of your support… it truly means more than you could know! Please continue to pray for our group because God is listening and we can feel it! We love you all! Serving our King, Mike
