He had a daughter named Marcela who was well admired because she was beautiful, responsible, and intelligent. For every question that was asked her, Marcela had a ready answer. One day, the king, who had heard so much about Marcela’s intelligence, sent his trusted servants to Marcela’s house, telling them she would like her to do. Servant 1: “The king wishes to have twelve menus prepared out of this bird.” Narrator: One of the servants said, upon reaching her house. Narrator: Marcela, who was then sewing a piece of cloth, stopped for a while. Then she began to think. She took a needle and, holding it before her visitors, said Marcela: “Tell the honorable king that if he can make twelve spoons out of this needle, I can also prepare twelve menus out of that bird.” Narrator: The king’s servants went back to the palace and told their master what Marcela had said to them. Servant 1,2 and 3: “Tell the honorable king that if he can make twelve spoons out of this needle, I can also prepare twelve menus out of that bird.” Marcela said. Narrator: Upon hearing the smart reply given by Marcela, the king smiled. Then he thought another plan. Narrator: The next day the king again sent his servants to Marcela. This time they brought along a sheep with them. Chief Servant: “The king would like you to sell this sheep.” Narrator: Said the chief servant. Chief servant: “But you must not only give the king the amount of the sale; you must also return the sheep to him.” Narrator: To solve the puzzle, Marcela sold the thick fur of the sheep. Then she sent the money and the shaven sheep to the king in his palace. King: “Marcela is a really smart girl.” Narrator: Muttered the king. But he was still unconvinced, so he thought of testing the girl’s intelligence for the third time. Narrator: The following morning the king called the chief servant and said, king: “Go to Marcela, and tell her that I am sick, and that the only cure for my sickness is a glass of bull’s milk. Tell her also that if she can’t do this, I will discharge her father as a servant in my palace.” Narrator: The chief servant did as he was told. At the same time, the king issued an order forbidding anyone to take a bath in the river, or wash clothes in the said place, because he was going to use the river. That night Marcela and her father butchered their only pig. They spread the pig’s blood on the mat, blanket and pillows. The next morning Marcela placed the mat, blanket and pillows at the mouth of the river where the king happened to be taking a bath. The king saw her and shouted, King: Why are you washing these things here? Don’t you know that I have issued an order prohibiting anyone from using the river since I will use it the whole day? Narrator: Marcela bowed her head and replied, Marcela: “Your highness, it has been our custom to wash the things used by anyone who has given birth to a child. And because my father gave birth to a baby last night, I have no recourse but to disobey your order although to do so is against my will.” King: STUPID! Narrator: roared the king. King: “Did you say your father gave birth to a child? Impossible!” Marcella: Your highness,” If as you say it is impossible for a man to give birth to a child, it is equally impossible to milk a bull.” Narrator: After a while the king took Marcela’s hand. Then he said, King: “Marcela, you are a very intelligent girl. I choose you to be a wife of my son.” Within a week the king’s son and Marcela were married. There was a lot of feasting, and the lived happily ever after. I-print nyo na lang ang ginawa kong script. Thank you! wish ko tomorrow meron na ha. May meeting din bukas.
