Group Rides for October: Harwood Mills - 9:00 am Saturdays Warahni - 9:00 am Sundays Indian River park - 6:00 pm Wednesdays Board update: According to the bylaws the board has appointed Mike as President. The members present at the meeting were asked to to ratify the appointment. Mike is a long time mountain biker he joined EVMA about 10 years ago to help out - building and maintaining trails in addition to riding them. Alister Perkinson is the new park coordinator at Freedom Park. Alister has worked with JCC since 2001 most recently in the aquatics program Trails Update: YRSP National Public Lands day, 20 folks showed up, worked on 1 mile of scenic trail. John Blair trail is 6.5 mi. 26 mi total at YRSP. YRSP update from Kirk - Additional 6 to 6.5 miles to be finished on John Blair Trail, it is flagged, anticipate finishing in November. New Park Ranger coming on board at YRSP First Landing state Park -Harry and SouthSide working to get legal trails built Harry will attend a meeting with Mike Buff at the end of the month. Trails D and E are still closed from Freedom Park. Loops D and E can be accessed from school parking on Jolly Pond Rd. Please do not access the trails from Freedom, the road is still under construction. Mike Gross has permission and paperwork completed for night rides at Harwood Mills Tuesdays from 6pm - 8pm November - March. If you ride you will need to display a parking permit on dashboard. Membership drive update: 30% increase in memberships from July 1 to October 1, 2013 Wednesdays on your Wheel race update: Series ended 10/16, average number of racers was close to 30. Upcoming Events: 11/2/2013 EVMA membership meeting will be held at New Quarter Park, Pavilion #1. 11/2/2013 Nike Park in Carrollton, a Boy Scout troop wants to help repair trail due to trail damage from phone company. Seeking volunteers with trail work experience to help out. Please contact Harry or Mike Buff if you will assist. April - bike day at YRSP for completion of trail - Date TBD
